Anadolu Hisarı is one of the points overlooking the unique view of the Bosphorus. It was built by Yıldırım Bayezid between 1391 and 1399, at the narrowest point of the Bosphorus. At that time, the Genoese united with the Byzantines and established colonies in Kefe, Sinop and Amasra in the Black Sea.
Built on an area of 7 thousand square meters, the fortress was also known as Güzel Hisar, Yeni Hisar and Ak Hisar in different periods.
